Infosys projects growth for 2010

Bangalore, April 15 : Infosys Technologies Ltd has projected consolidated income of Rupees.221-229 billion (Rupees.22,066-22,928 crore) for the new fiscal (2009-10), indicating a single digit growth of 1.7-5.7 percent over the last fiscal (2008-09) as per the Indian accounting Standard
In a regulatory filing Wednesday, the IT bellwether said the earnings per share (EPS) for FY 2010 were expected to be in the range of Rs.96.95-101.18, a decline of 7.6-3.3 percent YoY.

Under the International Financial Reporting Standard (IF RS), consolidated revenues for fiscal 2010 are expected to be $4.35-4.52 billion, a decline of 6.7-3.1 percent YoY.

Similarly, for the first quarter (April-June) of this fiscal (2009-10), consolidated income is expected to be Rs.53.79-54.80 billion (Rs.5,379-5,480 crore), a modest growth of 10.8-12.9 percent YoY under the Indian accounting standard.

Sachin Tendulkar excited about IPL

Noida (UP), Apr 15 : Indian cricket team's star batsman Sachin Tendulkar avoided debate over the venue of this year's edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Further, he asserted that as the skipper of Mumbai Indians, he is eager to regale the supporters of his team despite the matches being played in South Africa.

When persisted by journalists for his comments on the government's inability to provide security for the IPL extravaganza, Tendulkar said, "I am sure the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the concerned guys must have tried their best. It's just coincided with the elections. I don't think by shifting the tournaments South Africa there will be any less interest.

Slumdog Millionaire granted tax free in Delhi

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today announced that her Government has decided to grant entertainment tax exemption in the city to "Slumdog Millionaire", which has bagged eight Oscars in the US, including two Oscars for music maestro A R Rehman and one for sound technician Rasul Pookutty.

Rehman has become the second Indian to win the prestigious award, after costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, who had won the Oscar for Best Costume design for Richard Attenborrough's 'Gandhi'.

Carrie Underwood Cheers on Mike Fisher, Dodges Cameras

Although she's kept quiet since first being romantically linked with Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher last month, Carrie Underwood publicly cheered for her boyfriend when his team took on her hometown Nashville Predators Monday.

Sitting in a private box in Nashville's Sommet Center, Underwood gripped the edge of her seat as he scored an assist and grimaced as Fisher was checked hard.

At one point, Fisher appeared to look up in her direction and the singer smiled back at him. Ah, to be young, in love and dating a professional hockey player.

It wasn't all fun and games, though. The 25-year-old American Idol champ was briefly shown on the scoreboard for the entire arena to see, and after noticing the cameras were on her, she quickly (and hilariously) tried to take cover ...

Bollywood star Shah Rukh in hospital for operation

MUMBAI — Indian Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was admitted to hospital in Mumbai on Monday for an operation on his shoulder, which he injured during filming last year, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The 43-year-old actor -- popularly known as King Khan -- was hurt while acting in the movie "Dulha Mil Gaya" (I Found my Groom), in December.

"Shah Rukh is set to undergo surgery later today," a spokeswoman for the Breach Candy hospital told AFP.

The star is expected to be discharged by the end of the week, but could be out of action for more than a month.

Shah Rukh flew back from London on Sunday night after promoting his latest film "Billu."
